IC Mendoza is 'proud to be a nepo baby!' Here's why
With "nepo babies" having a negative connotation these days, IC Mendoza's proud declaration that he is in fact one is a rather refreshing take.
On social media, IC cited his showbiz heritage beginning with his grandmother Inday Badiday, and said it wasn't luxury things he inherited from them.
"What was passed down to me was far more valuable: a good name, a strong reputation, and the legacy that my family built and protected in our industry," IC wrote.
He admitted that being Inday Bandiday's apo, entertainment writer Dolly Anne Carvajal's son, and columnist Letty Jimenez-Magsanoc's nephew has its advantages. "But I've always tried to use it for good. It's a form of social capital that can't be bought, only earned and nurtured," he said.
"I'm proud to say I used that as a foundation, not as a shortcut but as a stepping stone to carve my own path," he added.
Now that the digital creator has his own career to his name, IC said he often ensures to pay it forward and help others. "Yan ang pamana na never makukurakot at mananakaw," he said before ending his little reflection with a declaration: "So yes po. Proud to be a nepo baby!"
While the term "nepo baby" isn't new — it's shortcut for 'nepotism baby' or young individuals entering the same field as their parents and enjoying success early on — it's been going viral in Philippine social media as netizens continue to bash influencers of questionable wealth.
