'The Voice Kids PH' duo coach Miguel, Paolo of Ben&Ben share their special bond, challenges as twins
"The Voice Kids Philippines" duo coach, Miguel and Paolo Guico of Ben&Ben, candidly shared about the special bond and challenges they have as twins.
In their interview with Nelson Canlas for GMA Integrated News, which aired on "24 Oras" Thursday, the twins talked about their amusing dynamics when it comes to their friends.
"Mahirap siya para sa mga kaibigan namin. Minsan kunyari nag-k-kwentuhan, tapos papasok siya tapos may reaction siya sa kwento nila tapos parang dahil lang sa reaction, kailangan nila mag-respond a certain way. Tapos lalabas siya, pag pasok ko ulit, tatanungin ko 'yung exact same thing so uulitin nila," said Miguel.
According to Miguel, having a twin is "a very special kind of bond" but it also has its challenges, such as being compared by people a lot.
Paolo agreed, saying this often happened when they were growing up, which caused him to feel like he was not enough.
"Si Migs kasi 'yung mas favorite ng marami, ng mga tito and tita growing up eh, although our parents tried to protect us from it pero wala, ganun talaga eh. So parang you grow up with feeling na hindi ka enough, but eventually you find your way," said Paolo.
Per the twins, they also had their fair share of petty fights growing up.
The twins are set to debut as "The Voice Kids Philippines" first-ever duo coach this September, where they will be sharing a single chair and must be united in making decisions.
"I think that's a very interesting dynamic kasi of course hindi kami laging 100% aligned. Paano kung na-imagine ko na 'yung situation, like, paano kung sobrang gusto ko 'yung kid, tapos siya may reservations siya tapos naubusan ng time? Kasi 'di ba pag naubusan ng time wala ka na magagawa? Sana hindi kami mag-away ulit," said Miguel
Miguel also admitted that they both feel nervous because they do not have any experience judging in a singing competition.
"We've never had any experience like this before. It's our first time. We're learning a lot din... We're trying to impart a lot of things, but also we're learning at the same time," he said.
Aside from Miguel and Paolo, Zack Tabudlo will also join the show as a new coach, while Julie Anne San Jose and Billy Crawford will be reprising their roles as coaches.
The next season of "The Voice Kids Philippines" will premiere on September 14 on GMA Network.
The show will be hosted by Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.
