David Licauco gets pointers from DZBB for ‘Never Say Die’ investigative vlogger role
Beyond physical training, David Licauco also immersed himself in the world of modern journalism for his role in “Never Say Die.”
According to Nelson Canlas’ report on “24 Oras,” Friday, David will play the character of an investigative vlogger in the upcoming series.
“‘Yung role ko sa ‘Never Say Die,’ isa akong vlogger na journalist. Through my videos, maybe on platforms, doon ko nae-express kung ano ‘yung gusto ko at ayaw ko sa Philippines,” David said.
Per David, his training focused significantly on how to convey what you feel and what one wants to share to viewers.
To bring authenticity to his role, he met with a broadcast journalist from DZBB.
“We had a meeting with Boss Orly [Trinidad] of DZBB, he was very insightful. ‘Yung role ko dito eh medyo similar sa ginagawa niya, so it was just nice for the production to, you know, to think about it, to pick up the knowledge from someone na batikan na sa larangan niya,” David said.
The Sparkle star learned that effective broadcasting extends beyond merely possessing a deep, direct voice.
“When you hear about being a radio broadcaster, you would automatically think na kailangan ‘yung boses mo deep, very straightforward, but actually sinabi sa akin ni Boss Orly na syempre it will also matter ‘yung kung sino ‘yung nakikinig,” David said.
“You have to pivot and learn kung paano gusto mapakinggan ng isang Gen Z or millennial ‘yung news,” he added.
David will star alongside Jillian Ward.
Other cast members include Kim Ji Soo, Richard Yap, Gina Alajar, Raymart Santiago, Angelu De Leon, Wendell Ramos, Ayen Munji-Laurel, Analyn Barro, Tanjo Villoso, and Michelle Dee.
