David Licauco celebrates 10th showbiz anniversary
David Licauco is marking a major milestone in his career as he celebrates his 10th anniversary in showbiz.
In Athena Imperial’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, David admitted he never imagined himself in the entertainment industry.
“Feeling ko it’s a far-fetched idea. Growing up, feeling ko nung simula, basketball talaga. And then nag-shift siya. Noong pagka-graduate ko, naisip ko na magnenegosyo ako. But then the showbiz opportunity came, so here I am,” he said.
David started with minor roles, which he now looks back on with gratitude.

“May mga roles na naglalakad lang ako or like, konting linya lang. If I didn’t do that, if I didn’t start from that, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” he said.
He also recalled a childhood setback where he failed to make it to his school’s varsity basketball team at 11 years old and has since become a driving force in his life.
“I feel like dahil sa kaniya, naging passionate ako sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Dahil sa kaniya, it felt to me na I wanted to reach higher goals. I hope he’s proud of me,” David said.
Looking ahead, David hopes to work with more actors, including Joshua Garcia.
“Napakagaling niyang actor,” he said.
He also wishes to work with Kathryn Bernardo and Dingdong Dantes and expressed that he misses working with Dennis Trillo.
“And of course, Barbie,” he said.
David’s first manager, Sparkle GMA Artist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo, described him as someone dedicated to his craft despite his easygoing image.
“He looks carefree, parang tatawa-tawa, but he’s really a serious person, especially when it comes to his craft. He keeps on learning. Tanong ‘yan nang tanong even with the directors, even with his co-actors. I am very proud of him, Sparkle is very proud of him,” she said.
David is set to star alongside Jillian Ward in “Never Say Die.”
Other cast members include Kim Ji Soo, Richard Yap, Gina Alajar, Raymart Santiago, Angelu De Leon, Wendell Ramos, Ayen Munji-Laurel, Analyn Barro, Tanjo Villoso, and Michelle Dee.
