Michael V. says Ciala Dismaya sketch is a way to raise awareness

Michael V.’s upcoming Sarah Discaya sketch on Sunday is a much-awaited one, as viewers are excited to see what he does with the character, Ciala Dismaya.

The Kapuso Comedy Genius spoke to reporters following Ricky Lee’s book launch. He was one of the artists who read Lee’s new books “Agaw-Tingin” and “Pinilakang Tabing.”

Bitoy said that with the Discaya issue among the most talked about topics in the Philippines now, “May clamor para dito sa character so we had to do it.”

He added that his platform and sketches are ways to raise awareness.

“Feeling ko, kung makakatulong ‘to sa pag-create ng awareness sa mga totoong nangyayari, sa issue na nangyayari sa bansa natin, eh 'di sige. By all memes.”

Michael V. also said that “natuwa ako, syempre” when he found out from Discaya’s lawyer that she is not angry with his impersonation.

“Nakahinga ako nang maluwag. Kasi syempre, nung nag-spread ‘yung rumors na, 'oh hindi nagustuhan at baka grounds para magdemanda,' parang for me, we’ve been doing this for a long time. Ginawa ko na nga dati si President GMA, President Erap, President Duterte, parang never naman nangyari ‘to eh. So confident ako na hindi naman gagawin,” he said.

“True enough, parang mga fans pa nga raw sila ng ‘Bubble Gang,’ so parang looking forward pa silang manood.”

Bitoy emphasized that in the 30 years of the gag show, “never talaga kaming nang-offend. Never kaming nag-yurak ng mga tao. Ako especially, nilalagyan ko ng limitations kung anong pwede at ‘di pwede.”

Asked by GMA News Online what lessons or message he hopes the sketch will impart, Michael V. answered, “Mamulat.”

“Pero itong sketch namin, magulat lang.”

He invited viewers to watch the sketches on Sunday, and would see whether the public enjoys it.

Flood control projects controversy

On a serious note, Michael V. says he is not happy with the alleged corruption involving flood control projects.

“Loyal taxpayers kami ng asawa ko eh. Madalas, naguusap kami about migrating sa ibang bansa. Sinasabi ko lagi, hindi, dito lang tayo kasi mahal ko ‘yung bansa,” Bitoy said.

“Hindi naman sa walang fault ang Pilipinas o ang gobyerno natin. Marami syempre. Kaya lang syempre, ‘yung hope na sana one day magbago at sinasakyan ko pa rin,” he added. “Kailangan umasa na may pagasa.”

Ciala Dismaya will appear this September 14 on Bubble Gang at 6:10 p.m. on GMA Network.

Matt Lozano and Betong Sumaya also teased that their characters are reminiscent of Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Rodante Marcoleta. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
