Rufa Mae Quinto says no foul play in husband’s death

Rufa Mae Quinto has released a video statement on the death of her husband, Trevor Magallanes.

In a vlog titled, “Nagpakatotoo si Rufa Mae!” released Thursday on YouTube, the actress and comedienne set the record straight on Trevor’s death.

“Walang foul play, hindi nag-suicide, at tsaka oras na niya. Ang tawag don sudden death, ‘yun po ang sabi sa autopsy,” Rufa Mae said. She emphasized that his death was natural.

“Bata pa siya, pero ganun talaga siguro,” she said early in the video.

According to Rufa Mae, she initially did not want to explain further because online comments and rumors could be a cause of trauma for her daughter, Athena.

She decided to share the cause of Trevor's death, “para lang din magka-closure na din ako, ‘yung anak ko, pamilya niya, pamilya namin, kaibigan."

She added that she wanted to clarify “para manahimik na rin pati soul ng asawa ko, soul ko, pati ng anak namin.”

In the video, Rufa Mae said that as the wife, she traveled to the US to get Trevor’s body, look for a chapel, organize prayers, and give him a celebration of life or viewing. She said it was a challenge as she did not have many friends there.

“Walang traumatic,” she said. “Hindi ko ma-explain ‘tong nararamdaman ko, basta at least nasagot ko na ‘yung part na ‘yon sa inyong lahat sa sinabi kong statement.”

Later in the video, Rufa Mae introduced Trevor’s eldest brother Jesse, who said heart attacks run in their family, with their grandfather, uncle, and father dying due to it.

Rufa Mae broke the news of Trevor's passing on July 31, saying they were still gathering factual information.

In a separate Facebook post later on, Rufa admitted to the shock of being a widow as she and Trevor had never gotten annulled.

Rufa and Trevor got married in 2016 and welcomed their daughter Athena the following year.

Back in January, Rufa said that she and Trevor were going through a rough patch but that she had no plans to file for divorce.

In May, she shared that she and Trevor remain married but, “Ayaw na rin niya, so ayaw ko na rin at ginagalang ko ‘yun.” — LA, GMA Integrated News
