Angel Locsin breaks social media silence to speak against corruption: ‘Naiiyak ako sa galit’
Angel Locsin has broken her social media silence to join fellow Filipinos in speaking up against corruption in the Philippines.
The “Darna” actress took to her Instagram Stories to share her sentiments in time for the September 21 rallies in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
“To all Filipinos fighting corruption – may God give you more strength to keep going,” she began.
Although she had been quiet on social media, Angel said she has been following the probe into flood control projects in the Senate and Congress.
“I couldn’t help but remember the messages and news of people begging for help, families with homes washed away, parents who lost their work, lives lost to floods/typhoons,” she wrote.
“Naiiyak ako sa galit kasi pwede pa lang hindi sila naghirap. Pwede pa lang walang nasaktan. Pwede pa lang walang namatay,” Angel said.
She admitted that she feels heavy whenever she hears such bad news about corruption, but said she would feel weaker if she remained silent.
“Mas nakakapanghina kung mananahimik lang tayo,” she said.
“Kaya we keep speaking, we keep fighting,” she added. For justice. For change. No politics. Para sa tao.”
On X, Angel also shared a quote that goes, “Ang sa amin, galing sa hirap – ang sa inyo, galing sa mahirap,” followed by the hashtag #StopTheCorruption.
Anne Curtis, who was among the celebrities present at the “Trillion Peso March” at the EDSA People Power Monument, reshared Angel’s post and said, “My girl is back out to raise her voice! Go Mars!” followed by the same hashtag.
