Jennylyn Mercado, Ruru Madrid, other stars make a stand against PH corruption

The September 21 rallies weren't limited to those who marched in Luneta and EDSA. It also extended on social media where plenty more joined the call for accountability.

While thousands of people gathered at the Rizal Park for the "Baha sa Luneta: Aksyon na Laban sa Korapsyon" and at the EDSA People Power Monument for the "Trillion Peso March" on Sunday, a number of stars dared to speak up against corruption on social media, including Jennylyn Mercado, Ruru Madrid, Bianca Umali, and Angel Locsin, who broke her long-standing social media silence to join the protest. Angel posted on Instagram and X, where Anne Curtis retweeted her message.

Fil-Canadian Hollywood actor Manny Jacinto joined the protests later in the week, reposting photos by Geloy Concepcion and Jilson Tiu on his Instagram Stories and adding emojis like the Philippine flag to his post.

The streets and online protests were triggered by the alleged corruption in flood control projects currently being probed in Congress and in the Senate.
