Inka Magnaye defends BF from allegations linking him to flood control controversy

Voice actor and content creator Inka Magnaye came to the defense of her non-showbiz boyfriend after the latter was linked to the alleged corruption in the flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Her boyfriend, Mat, is a civil engineer who currently works in the government agency.

In a video posted Saturday, Inka cried foul over how one post from an anonymous account led some people "to condemn us to a witch hunt."

"I've been harassed all week with allegations and people have been posting details of Mat's work online for everyone to see just because they think he's corrupt. That's doxing. People have been accusing me of stuff because they said I've been quiet, but I've not been quiet," she said.

According to Inka, she has been posting about the anomalous flood control projects on her Threads and TikTok accounts.

However, she acknowledged that she is not as vocal about issues she does not have much knowledge about or has no personal experience with.

"When the flood control issue exploded, the last thing I wanted to do was misspeak about Mat's place of work and cause him to lose his livelihood. So, instead, what I do is I repost and reshare good content with important information from credible sources," she said.

She also underscored that not everyone who works in government is corrupt, noting, "Don't discount that there are good people who truly want to serve the public, just like his dad, who passed away even before Mat started working there."

She added that her boyfriend worked hard for everything he has and that she does not mention his work much out of respect for his privacy.

"I became even more protective of him because I know that there's so many people out there who won't even care that he's good at his job and that he works clean," she said.

"Look, we understand the anger of the people because it is our anger too. And it's so unfortunate that Mat and I, along with so many other people who are not involved in whatever is going on, are getting caught in the crossfire."

At the end of the video, she called on the public to refrain from taking speculations as facts and hoped for those truly responsible for the anomalous flood control projects to be held accountable.

"This issue is way bigger than Mat and I. We, Mat and myself, are legitimate taxpayers and are obviously against corruption of any kind and we want those who mishandled the funds to be held accountable," she concluded.

On Sunday, September 21, marchers took to Luneta Park in Manila and the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City as part of the mass protest rallies against corruption amid the flood control projects controversy currently being investigated in Congress and the Senate.
