Ciala Dismaya channels Kara David with birthday wish in 'Bubble Gang' sketch

Ciala Dismaya (Michael V.) channeled Kara David in the latest "Bubble Gang" spoof of the hearings over alleged anomalous flood control projects.

Ciala's husband, Cornee Dismaya (EA Guzman), joined her in the hearings for the first time and requested the committee to allow him to greet her a happy birthday.

After Sen. Espada (Matt Lozano), Sen. Markolekta (Betong Sumaya), and Sen. Tolpu (Paolo Contis) gave him the greenlight, Cornee took out a birthday cake and lit the candle for her to make a wish.

When the committee asked Ciala what she wished for, she said, "Ang wish ko po ay sana mawala na lahat ng mga korap." It was a reference to Kara David's recent birthday wish.

After Ciala made her wish, everyone in the room suddenly disappeared.

"Ang kapal ng mukha. May pa-hearing-hearing pa. Eh lahat naman pala sila. Hiyang-hiya naman ako sa kanila 'no," Ciala said.

But she and Cornee vanished as well, suggesting that, like the politicians, they too were entangled in corruption.

In another part of the "Cornee Dismaya" sketch, Sen. Tolpu asked Cornee about Ciala when he saw that her chair was empty. Cornee said that his wife cannot attend the hearing because of a valid reason.

"Your Honor, may heart condition pa siya. Nagpadala po siya ng letter, bali hindi ko lang po nabasa," Cornee answered.

Sen. Tolpu then questioned Sen. Markolekta about the truthfulness of Cornee's claims when Ciala, who had been busy talking on the phone, appeared.

Upon her arrival, she asked if she could eat during the hearing while speaking with a British accent, leaving the senators visibly shocked. Puzzled, Senator Tolpu asked about her sudden change in speech.

"Actually, I was just talking to my sister. She's in London," Ciala replied.

As the senators continued to question her, Ciala maintained the accent while eating, only to begin choking mid-sentence. Her husband quickly rushed to her aid, performing the Heimlich maneuver and saving her from the mishap.

Ciala and Cornee Dismaya are spoofs of Sarah and Pacifico "Curlee" Dismaya, who are among the contractors involved in the probe into alleged corruption in flood control projects.

Aside from Cornee, a new face also appeared on Sunday's episode: Cong. Kikoy played by Kokoy De Santos.

He was vlogging during the session and did some meowing, an unmistakable reference to Cavite 4th District Representative Cong. Kiko Barzaga.

Michael V. earlier spoofed Sarah in "Bubble Gang's" first sketch of its Ciala Dismaya parody, which aired on September 14.

In a previous interview with GMA News Online, Bitoy said that with the flood control issue among the most talked about topics in the Philippines now, there is a clamor for the character of Ciala Dismaya. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News
