‘Quezon’ to make international debut in Hawaii in October

“Quezon” starring Jericho Rosales is heading to the 45th Annual Hawai'i International Film Festival (HIFF) in October!

According to the HIFF website, the Jerrold Tarog-biopic was selected for the Spotlight On The Philippines category.

It will be screened on October 26 and 28 at the Consolidated Kahala Theater in Honolulu.

Aside from “Quezon,” other Filipino films that will also premiere at the film festival are "Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea,” "Eraserheads: Combo on The Run," and Lav Diaz’s "Magellan.”

"Quezon" is the third installment of TBA Studios' "Bayaniverse," which is preceded by "Heneral Luna" (2015) and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral" (2018).

The film follows the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a Filipino lawyer and soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944.

It stars Jericho as Quezon, Mon Confiado as General Emilio Aguinaldo, Benjamin Alves as the younger version of Quezon, Karylle as Aurora Quezon and “Game of Thrones” actor Iain Glen as Leonard Wood, among others.

It also includes Romnick Sarmenta as Sergio Osmeña, the first Vice President of the Philippines; JC Santos as Manuel Roxas, who later became the fifth Philippine president; and Cris Villanueva as the older Joven Hernando, the lone fictional character in the film series.

Produced by TBA Studios with the support of the Film Development Council of the Philippines and CreatePHFilms, "Quezon" is set to hit the Philippine cinemas beginning October 15.
