Barbie Forteza donates P100,000 to victims of Cebu earthquake
Barbie Forteza has donated P100,000 for children in Cebu, who endured a 6.9 magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks early this week.
According to an Instagram post by Save the Children, the Kapuso Primetime Princess made the donation to help and support the nonprofit's response to the quake.
"Children in Cebu are still reeling from the earthquake and aftershocks, with some forced to sleep outside in the rain," it said as it thanked Barbie "for standing #ForAndWithChildren in this difficult time."
Meanwhile, Barbie said, “I hope more people will come together to support the children of Northern Cebu because they deserve to be safe, cared for, and hopeful again."
In an earlier Instagram post, Save the Children said it has been visiting hospitals and communities to check on the children and make sure that they are taken care of.
Barbie has been a Save the Children Philippines ambassador since 2024.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday morning, the earthquake has injured 559 people.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD), meanwhile, reported a death toll of 73 as of Thursday night.
