Would Jericho Rosales, Mon Confiado run for president if given the chance?

Do Jericho Rosales, Mon Confiado have plans to run for presidency?

Would Jericho Rosales and Mon Confiado consider running for president if they were given the chance?

During the media conference for their upcoming historical biopic "Quezon," the two actors were asked the hypothetical question, having portrayed two former Philippine presidents.

Mon, who is once again playing Emilio Aguinaldo, was quick to dismiss the idea.

"Ni minsan, hindi pumasok sa isip ko na pumasok sa pulitika at aminado ako na hindi ko kakayanin at wala akong alam," he said.

Meanwhile, Jericho, who will give life to Manuel L. Quezon, offered a reflective response.

"The short answer is no," Jericho said.

He elaborated on his decision, linking it to observations he made during recent international travels, mentioning coming from Tanzania and Cape Town, where he participated in a free walking tour.

"The tour guide just said, 'At the end, we just need leaders who really care, genuinely, sincerely care.' That's all you need. Everything can be learned," Jericho said.

Jericho also cited his own path, saying that he never graduated or went to college and learned English because of television.

He asserted that there are numerous schools available today, saying that almost anything can be studied online, through books, or by asking, whether it is acting, art, or how to become a producer.

"Madali. Lahat kaya mo," he said. "Pero 'pag wala sa puso mo at hindi talaga genuine sa 'yo ang pag-care at pagsilbi sa isang tao, hindi mangyayari 'yan. Ano-ano pa kung isang buong bansa?"

Jericho said the thing he loves most in life is art.

"Paano ko ipagpapalit ang sining sa isang posisyon? Paano ko pagsasabayin ang sining at ito? Paano ko pagsasabayin ang ibang bokasyon at ang pamumuno ng isang bansa? Hindi biro maging presidente. So ang hinihiling po namin ay ang puso mismo ng isang presidente," he said.

In "Quezon," Jericho and Mon star alongside Iain GlenBenjamin Alves, Therese Malvar, Arron Villaflor, Cris Villanueva, Romnick Sarmenta, Karylle, JC Santos, Jake Macapagal, Bodjie Pascua, Angeli Bayani, Jojit Lorenzo, Joross Gamboa, Ana Abad Santos, Ketchup Eusebio, and Nico Locco.

The film is directed by Jerrold Tarog. It will follow the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a lawyer and a soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944, highlighting his tumultuous presidential campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo.

"Quezon" is the third installment of TBA Studios' "Bayaniverse," following "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral."

It will open in cinemas on October 15. —MGP, GMA Integrated News
