Klea Pineda overjoyed after ‘Open Endings’ wins Best Ensemble Performance at Cinemalaya

Klea Pineda couldn’t hide her happiness after “Open Endings” bagged the Best Ensemble Performance award at the 2025 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

The Kapuso actress took to Instagram to express her joy for the film and thank the team behind it, whom she called her “dream team.”

“Puno ng saya at pagmamahal ang puso ko ngayon, napakaraming emosyon pero masuwerte ako na naging bahagi ako ng pelikula na 'to,” Klea wrote.

“Hindi niyo alam kung ano ang naging dulot ninyo sa pagkatao ko at sa pagiging aktor ko sa industriyang ito,” she added.

The Kapuso actress also expressed deep appreciation for her co-stars.

“Bihira makahanap ng ka-trabaho sa industriyang ito na aabot hanggang likod ng camera ang pagkakaibigan pero nakilala ko kayo Jasmine, Janella, at Leanne,” she said.

“Hindi ko alam kung anong meron sa inyong tatlo pero pang habang buhay na 'to,” she added. “Proud ako na nakasama ko kayo sa napakagandang proyekto na 'to.”

“Open Endings” marked several firsts for Klea: It was her Cinemalaya debut, her first collaboration with co-stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Janella Salvador, and Leanne Mamonong, and her first award from the film festival.

In an Instagram Stories post, Jasmine posted a photo that showed Cinemalaya's citation of the film, saying it earned the Best Ensemble Performance award “for the seamless chemistry, emotional depth, and playful vitality of four performances that breathe life into a rare story of chosen family and intimacy; and for capturing with honesty, humor, and grace the enduring bonds between queer women navigating love, loss, and friendship.”

Directed by Nigel Santos, "Open Endings" follows the lives of four queer women—who are exes turned best friends—as they take an unexpected shift when one makes a life-changing decision.
