Alden Richards on receiving criticism for his directorial debut for 'Out of Order': 'Hindi naman pwedeng ‘yung magaganda lang ‘yung laging tinitignan

Alden Richards is embracing both praise and constructive criticism following his directorial debut “Out of Order.”

In a “24 Oras Weekend” report by Nelson Canlas, the Asia’s Multimedia Star said he treats feedback very seriously to further hone his skills behind the camera.

“Hindi naman pwedeng laging magaganda lang ‘yung laging tinitignan natin,” Alden said.

“I take it as good points to learn. I filter, and then I take it into account para at least for the next, mas suabe na yung storytelling natin,” he added.

According to Alden, his 15 years of experience as an actor provided the foundation for his directing career, considering he did not have a formal education in filmmaking.

“Punong puno na ‘yung pagiging actor, nililipat ko siya ngayon sa pag-di-direct because it’s been 15 years,” he said.

“Lahat kasi nang mga nakikita ko, nagmamarka sa’kin, and eventually nagiging stock knowledge ko pala siya, and all of that was applied when I did ‘Out of Order’,” he added.

Out of Order” landed on Netflix’s no. 1 spot on “Top 10 TV Shows in the Philippines Today” during its first week on the platform. As of writing, it currently sits in the ninth spot.

The film premiered at the 2025 Jagran Film Festival in India in September and was also featured in the competition section of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival in Vietnam in July.

Outside the limelight, Alden continues to pursue personal milestones. In July, he officially enrolled in a flight school to fulfill his dream of becoming a pilot. — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA Integrated News
