After Gawad Urian win, what's next for Dennis Trillo? 'Oscars naman'

The blessings keep coming to Dennis Trillo, but the Kapuso actor still has dreams he wants to fulfill.

In an interview with Athena Imperial, aired on "Unang Balita" on Wednesday, Dennis joked that he wants an Academy Award next.

"Oscars naman," he said. "Hindi, joke lang. 'Yun na 'yung rurok pero alam mo 'yun, malayo pa tayo doon."

In his 20 years in showbiz, Dennis said there are still genres he hasn't tried.

"Parang wala pa kong musical," he said. When asked if he wanted to act in one, he answered, "Why not?"

"Ang gusto ko kasing gawin mga horror eh, gusto ko 'yung mga dark na projects," he added. "Horror, suspense, thriller, psycho drama."

Dennis recently won the Best Actor award at the 48th Gawad Urian for his performance in the critically-acclaimed "Green Bones."

He credits his showbiz success to both his own hard work and destiny.

"Patrabahuin mo rin kung meron kang gusto," he said. "Kung destiny man 'yan, hayaan mong maging guide lang 'yan sayo."

The Best Actor award marks Dennis' first Gawad Urian win after several nominations over the years.

He was previously nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2005 for "Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita" and again in 2022 for "On the Job: The Missing 8."

For Best Actor, he received nominations for "Blue Moon" (2006), "The Janitor" (2015), and "Felix Manalo" (2016). —JCB, GMA Integrated News
