What do Ara Mina, Maureen Larrazabal feel about corruption in the Philippines? Actresses answer
What do Ara Mina and Maureen Larrazabal feel about the prevailing corruption in the Philippines?
The actresses guested on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" Friday, where they were asked for their reaction to anomalies in government.
"Nalulungkot ako sa mga news, syempre lalo na 'yung 'pag pinaguusapan tax 'yan na binayaran ng bayan, natin, so I hope na lang matapos 'to," said Ara.
She also agreed with Tito Boy that those guilty of corruption should be held accountable and punished.
Maureen, for her part, said she felt angry as a taxpayer.
"Bayad ako nang bayad ng tax, hirap na hirap ako tapos ganun lang pala," she shared.
She also expressed her hope for the country, saying, "Hindi ko naiintindihan kung bakit kailangan 'yun mangyari, but I am hoping and praying na magkaroon tayo ng poposiyon na maiaayos lahat ang Pilipinas."
Last month, many Filipino celebrities took a stand against corruption and joined the September 21 protests in Rizal Park, Manila, and at the EDSA People Power Monument in response to the alleged anomalies in flood control projects in the country.
The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), the body tasked to investigate the anomalous flood control projects, had already begun its probe.
According to the ICI on Thursday, around 2,800 bank accounts have been frozen in connection with the investigation into anomalous flood control projects. The value of the accounts thus far is estimated to be about P5 billion.
Meanwhile, Maureen and Ara, original cast members of "Bubble Gang," are set to join the comedy's show's two-part special on October 19 and 26 in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
"Bubble Gang" airs every Sunday at 6:10 p.m. on GMA Network.
