Veteran actress Gloria 'Loly' Mara passes away

Veteran actress Gloria "Loly" Mara passed away. She was 86 years old.

Her family shared the news through a Facebook post on Saturday night.

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gloria 'Loly' Mara. We are all heartbroken. Words cannot express how much our mom meant to us," the family wrote.

Her family described Loly as an "extraordinary mother, grandmother and friend."

"She was the strongest, most compassionate, and deeply loving woman we've ever known. Loly had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and cherished," they said.

"Her presence lit up every room, and her warmth touched countless lives. She was truly loved by many, and her legacy of kindness and thoughtfulness will live on in all of us," they added.

Ending their post, the family thanked Loly and expressed their love for her.

"Thank you mom for everything. We love you with all of our hearts and we know that your love lives on in all of us."

Mara was best known for taking on different roles in film and TV, including "Bagets," "Kambal Karibal," "My Destiny," and "Rhodora X" among others.

She won Best Supporting Actress at the Cinemalaya 2016 for her performance in "Ang Bagong Pamilya Ni Ponching." She shared the award with Elizabeth Oropesa.
