'Selfie Song' singer Davey Langit passes away
Davey Langit, the singer behind “Selfie Song,” has passed away.
On his Facebook page Wednesday, his wife, Therese Villarante-Langit, announced the unfortunate news and wrote him a tribute.
“Yesterday, my husband, our best friend, brother, son, bandmate, collaborator, favorite guitar player, master storyteller, and the kindest, brightest, most beautiful person — fought fiercely ‘til the very end," Therese said.
“He felt so loved by you all these past few days. Thank you for filling his heart with so much gratitude, community, and hope," she added.
The cause of Davey's death was not revealed, but previous posts showed he endured a rare spinal infection called spondylodiscitis around his thoracic 8 vertebrae, and was diagnosed just last August.
According to Physiopedia, spondylodiscitis happens due to an infection and is difficult to treat due to the limited blood supply in that body part.
Therese described Davey as someone who "loved life more than anyone I’ve ever met."
"He jumped off 75-meter free falls, rode the most frightening roller coasters, savored food, danced goofy, lit up every room with his warmth, his jokes, and loud laughter, and he loved LOVED music and songwriting with such fire,” Therese said.
There are memorial services for Davey happening at the Phoenix Memorial Chapels & Crematory Inc. Brgy, National Highway, City of Santa Rosa, Laguna from October 23 to 26, and at St. Peter Urdaneta from October 27 to 29.
“Thank you for being part of Davey’s life. He loved each and every one of you,” Therese said.
Aside from “Selfie Song,” Davey is known for “Wedding Song” and “Idjay.”
