Shuvee Etrata joins call for donations for Cebu
Shuvee Etrata joined the call for donations for her hometown Cebu, which was greatly affected by typhoons Tino and Uwan.
In an Instagram post, the actress and “Pinoy Big Brother” star shared her love for her hometown.
“I carry Cebu with me wherever I go, kaya masakit makita ang kapwa ko Cebuanos maging biktima ng pinsala ng Typhoon Tino at Typhoon Uwan. It breaks my heart to see the images, hear the cries, and recognize the faces from my own community," she wrote.
While she prays for those affected "do not lose hope, and that we will rise together," Shuvee also aired her hope that "this time, hindi lang tayo bumangon para masabing matatag tayo."
"Let’s rise with action and accountability — dahil hindi pwedeng paulit-ulit na lang ang kwento ng pagdurusa at kapabayaan,” Shuvee said.
She also called on everybody to extend help. “Some lost not just their homes and livelihood, but also their loved ones,” she said.
“A few pesos, a few cans, a few prayers — they matter. Together, let’s rebuild not just houses, but hope,” Shuvee added as she shared QR codes for donations under the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
In her carousel post, Shuvee highlighted Cebu's beautiful sunset and shared snaps of the destruction. "Cebu isn’t just another place, it’s home," Shuvee wrote with a broken heart emoji.
According to the 11 p.m. cyclone bulletin of PAGASA on Tuesday, Uwan is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but may re-enter Wednesday, November 12, afternoon as it makes landfall over the southwestern coast of Taiwan.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Tuesday that the death toll from Uwan, which reached super typhoon category over the weekend, has risen to 25.
Uwan, which has since been downgraded as a severe tropical storm, also displaced 1,188,764 people as it reached super typhoon strength, the OCD said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said damage and losses from Uwan have so far reached P142.29 million.
