Miss Universe President Raul Rocha ‘fed up’, looking to sell pageant amid issues — report
Miss Universe Organization President Raul Rocha admits that he is “fed up” and is looking to sell the pageant amid all the controversies.
In a report by People Magazine, Rocha spoke to Mexican journalist Adela Micha about the coronation on November 21 and his response to the pageant’s controversies.
In Spanish, Rocha said he is "looking for someone to pass [the pageant] on to."
He added, "This is like a test, like a relay race. Who do I pass the baton to?"
When asked about his change of mind, Rocha said "It's just that I'm so fed up."
"I'm so fed up with all the talk. I don't lend myself to that kind of thing."
According to Rocha, “everyone wants to have an opinion” about the Miss Universe business.
"They want to come and tell you what decisions you make, how you make them, why you hire people, why you take away people, and why you add people," he said.
The 74th Miss Universe pageant has been marred by several controversies this year, including pre-pageant walkouts, disappointment over the winner, a winning queen's resignation, and allegations of rigging.
Rocha has since addressed the allegations.
