Dennis Trillo amid AACA 2025 win for 'Green Bones': 'Importante, matuto 'yung mga tao sa kuwento'

Dennis Trillo won Asia's Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2025 for his portrayal of Domingo Zamora in "Green Bones," besting several top artists including Jacob Elordi and Park Bo Gum. 

In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras" Friday, the Kapuso actor expressed his joy that many people are still paying attention to "Green Bones" a year after its premiere. 

"Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na pagkatapos ng isang taon marami pa ring nakakapansin dun sa mga trabahong ginawa namin," he said. 

Dennis also could not help but be proud that the film has broken barriers and resonated beyond Filipino viewers. 

"'Yun 'yung nakakatuwa eh kasi parang na-b-break na natin 'yung barrier at nakalagpas tayo dun sa ibang entablado. Alam mo 'yun, mas marami 'yung nakaka-appreciate, hindi lang 'yung mga Pilipino pati 'yung mga ibang lahi." 

Nevertheless, he underscored that what matters to him is that people understand the moral lesson of "Green Bones" and live it out. 

"'Yun naman 'yung importante eh, 'yung matuto 'yung mga tao dun sa kuwento, malaman nila 'yung moral lesson nung buong pelikula at ma-apply nila 'yun sa kani-kanilang mga buhay," he shared. 

It was GMA Network Vice President for Musical, Variety, Specials, and Alternative Productions for Entertainment Group and Philippine Ambassador for the Asian Academy of Creative Arts Gigi Santiago-Lara who accepted the award on behalf of Dennis and “Green Bones” at the AACA 2025 ceremony in Singapore.

“This is such a surprise and we are so honored to receive this in behalf of Mr. Dennis Trillo, ‘Green Bones,’ the producers, Nessa Valdellon, the writers Mr. Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza,” Santiago-Lara said in her acceptance speech.

“’Green Bones’ did very well in the Philippines and we are so honored to receive this award. Thank you to the academy.”

"Green Bones" is the official entry of GMA Pictures to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024, where it won several awards including Best Actor for Dennis, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru Madrid, and Best Picture.

The film follows Xavier Gonzaga (Ruru), a young policeman determined to keep notorious criminal Domingo Zamora (Dennis) behind bars.

Dennis also won a Gawad Urian award in October for the role.
