PBB Collab 2.0: Girls confront boys about green jokes, ask not to be objectified
The issue of inappropriate jokes came to a head on Tuesday's episode of "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0."
Krystal Mejes led the confrontation, first approaching Miguel Vergara with Carmelle Collado. They asked what "GYAT" means, a term that the boys previously used to refer to Carmelle. "GYAT" stands for "Girl, your a-s thick."
Miguel didn't want to answer Krystal because "sobrang inappropriate," and the girls said, "Exactly." He said it was Lee Victor who started it, and called over Inigo Jose, who also made a similar comment.
Apologizing to the girls, Miguel said, "I shouldn't have tolerated it."
"'Yun lang 'yung gusto namin dito is for you guys to not objectify us," Krystal told them. "Even if it's funny in your head it's really not right."
Inigo also apologized and said, "In the moment, I wasn't really thinking about my words, I wasn't really thinking 'yung impact ng joke ko."
"I'm open to change," he added. "Kinakapa ko rin sarili ko... hindi naman ako perfect. Pero may respeto ako sa babae, 'yun ang unang una."
Inigo further explained himself to Kuya in the Confession Room.
"Hindi ko po minemean in a sexual way, 'yung sinasabi ko sa kanya, you're moving different, parang iba talaga 'yung way niya kung pano siya maglakad," he said.
Krystal and Carmelle then approached Lee and told him they didn't appreciate his inappropriate jokes, saying they were disgusted and disappointed.
"That's on me, I admit it, I did say the joke and it was inappropriate, and I am so sorry, lalo na sayo Carmelle," Lee said.
In the Confession Room, Lee added, "As a gentleman, I should have known better. Hindi ko nga alam kung bakit namin pinagpapatuloy 'yung mga ganong jokes, alam namin na masama na 'yun, masagwa, pero tinutuloy tuloy pa rin namin."
He said that it must because they have become so comfortable to each other, and they did not think about their comments and jokes reaching the girls.
"That is the worst possible thing that could happen and it did happen," he said.
For her part, Carmelle told Kuya that she had already forgiven them even before they apologized.
"Nakita ko naman po at naramdaman ko na sincere din naman yung pag-sorry nila, Kuya," she said.
Kuya earlier enforced a rule separating the girls from the boys.
To further address the issue, houseguest Shuvee Etrata will host a talk show allowing the girls and the boys to ask questions to each other.
