'PBB Celebrity Collab 2.0': Caprice Cayetano tearfully reunites with dad

Caprice Cayetano received the most special Christmas gift on “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0.”

On Tuesday’s episode, the Kapuso teen talent was called to the Task Room and was tasked to touch five hands behind a curtain, one of which would be the person to give her the gift.

But even ahead of the task, Caprice turned emotional. “Kuya, naririnig ko po si daddy,” she said. “Na-fi-feel ko po Kuya, yung pag-crack niya po ng knuckles niya. Lukso po ng dugo yata ‘to, Kuya.”

She knew the first four hands weren't her father, but seeing the fifth made Caprice certain: “Si daddy na.”

Caprice could not hold back her tears as held the hand. She added that she felt she touched her whole family through her dad’s hand.

“Kahit ‘yung kamay lang po ni daddy mahawakan ko Kuya, masayang masaya na po ako,” she said.

When Kuya asked the person to head out of the curtain, it was revealed that it was Caprice’s father, the famed chef Jorge Mendez. Both cried as they shared a long hug.

“Sobrang saya ko ngayon Kuya kasi ngayon lang kami nakapag-hug nang ganun katagal.”

According to Caprice, she was able to express how much she missed her family through that hug. It was also the first time she saw her father cry, Caprice said.

As Jorge shed tears, he told Caprice that her mom watches her on “PBB,” and that they got her a gift. 

“Binili namin sa ‘yo ni mommy ‘yan kasi ‘yun nga, ‘di ka nagpapabili at [kung] gusto mo ‘yung isang bagay. Ever since nung bata ka, ganun ka 'di ba," the chef said, adding his hardworking and kind daughter deserves it. 

Later it was revealed that her parents gave Caprice a silver bag.

“Ngayon lang po talaga ‘ko nakatanggap ng gantong regalo, ‘yung gusto ko talagang kulay. Dream bag ko po talaga Kuya ‘to,” she said.

Before he left, Jorge said, “Galingan mo. ‘Yung goal lang talaga namin sa ‘yo ni mommy is marami kang matutunan dito. Pero ‘yung goal mo is manalo or at least may makuha, ikaw na ‘yan. Enjoy-in mo lang and at the end of the day, family mo silang lahat and sure ako madami kang matututunan sa kanilang lahat and sila din sa ‘yo.”

They also shared more hugs.

Caprice said the visit motivated her to be a more positive person because she learned that her family watches her.

In the Confession Room, Jorge told Kuya that Caprice is a kind child. He said that even though they started as young parents, “hindi po siya naging sagabal dun sa gusto naming mabuo for her. Hindi siya naging pasaway, never siyang humingi ng hindi naming kayang ibigay.”

Jorge added it was a happy experience raising Caprice. “Simula nung dumating siya sa ‘min, binago niya ang lahat, hindi lang ako. Kasi simula nung dumating siya, nagkaroon kami ng direksyon.”

He said, “Very special po talaga si Caprice. First daughter ko ‘yan, baby ko ‘yan.”

Kuya asked how they raised Caprice to be kind, and Jorge said it was through guidance.

“Lagi namin siya ni-re-remind na ayaw namin matulad ka sa ‘min dahil nag-start kami nang maaga. Hindi sa bawal, pero ayaw ka namin mahirapan the way na nahirapan kami,” he said.

“Mabait ‘yan Kuya, sobrang bait.”

Features 20 Gen Z celebrities from Sparkle and Star Magic, "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0" started airing on October 25. 

It airs weeknights at 9:40 PM, Saturdays at 6:15 PM, and Sundays at 10:05 PM on GMA Network.
