Filipina singer Gwyn Dorado lands in the Top 4 of 'Sing Again 4' Korea

A Filipina singer is making history in a South Korean talent program!

As seen in the latest episode of "Sing Again 4," 21-year-old Gwyn Dorado secured a spot in the Top 4 of the competition.

She stood out as the only foreign contestant among the Korean finalists Lee O Uk, Kim Jae Min, and Slowly.

Dorado's performance of "I Want You" also wowed the panel of judges, earning an impressive 798 out of 800 points—the highest score in the season's history.

Born Gwyneth Dorado, she first gained attention as a child finalist on "Asia's Got Talent Season 1" in 2015 at the age of 10. She performed Katy Perry's "Roar" in the audition round and earned four yeses from all four judges, Anggun, David Foster, Melanie C, and Vanness Wu.

She advanced to the grand finale and placed among the Top 5 finalists, joining fellow Filipino acts Shadow Playgroup El Gamma Penumbra and soprano Gerphil Flores.

Dorado was also tapped to sing the Philippine National Anthem during the last State of the Nation Address of the late President Noynoy Aquino in 2016.

In February 2024, she signed a five-year contract with South Korean agency A.O Entertainment.

Since then, she released "What If," the official soundtrack of the K-drama "ToGetHer," along with the digital single "Way," marking her official debut in South Korea.

"Sing Again" is a South Korean television singing competition which is designed to give "forgotten," underrated, or unknown singers—including former idols, veteran musicians, indie artists, and long-inactive performers—a second chance to be recognized. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News
