Filipina singer Gwyn Dorado finishes second in 'Sing Again 4' Korea
Gwyn Dorado continues to make history on the international stage!
The 21-year-old finished second during the finale of the Korean TV singing competition “Sing Again 4” on January 6.
Dorado, the only foreign contestant in the final round, competed with three Korean finalists, Lee O Wook, Kim Jae-min, and Slowly.
Her performance of “Light Up” earned her a final score of 3,009.39, claiming second place next to Lee O Wook, who won first place with a total score of 3,051.06.
Dorado made history in the previous round of the competition after earning an impressive 798 out of 800 points with her performance of “I Want You.” Her score was the highest score in the season's history.
Born Gwyneth Dorado, the Filipina singer first gained attention as a child finalist on "Asia's Got Talent Season 1" in 2015 at the age of 10. She performed Katy Perry's "Roar" in the audition round and earned four yeses from all four judges, Anggun, David Foster, Melanie C, and Vanness Wu.
She advanced to the grand finale and placed among the Top 5 finalists, joining fellow Filipino acts Shadow Playgroup El Gamma Penumbra and soprano Gerphil Flores.
Dorado was also tapped to sing the Philippine National Anthem during the last State of the Nation Address of the late President Noynoy Aquino in 2016.
In February 2024, she signed a five-year contract with South Korean agency A.O Entertainment.
Since then, she released "What If," the official soundtrack of the K-drama "ToGetHer," along with the digital single "Way," marking her official debut in South Korea.
"Sing Again" is a South Korean television singing competition which is designed to give "forgotten," underrated, or unknown singers—including former idols, veteran musicians, indie artists, and long-inactive performers—a second chance to be recognized.
