Lav Diaz goes into The Criterion Collection's closet
Lav Diaz got the chance to go inside the famous Criterion Collection closet!
In the video, the Filipino filmmaker shared a selection of works that have influenced him or that he finds personally meaningful.
His picks include "Lost Highway," "Apu Trilogy," "The Leopard," "Le Samourai," "Essential Fellini," "Ingmar Bergman’s Cinema," "I Am Cuba," "Werckmeister Harmonies," "Naked," "Persona," "Ugetsu," and "Letters from Fontainhas: Three Films."
The Criterion Collection, known for its curated releases and film restorations, gives viewers a chance to explore cinema history.
Diaz is the director of “Magellan,” which won the Golden Spike, the top award at the 70th Valladolid International Film Festival (SEMINCI).
During the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, “Magellan” received a five-minute standing ovation.
The film is also the Philippines' official entry to Oscars 2026.
