Alden Richards, Nadine Lustre share excitement for upcoming series ‘Love, Siargao’
Alden Richards and Nadine Lustre will headline the upcoming romantic comedy series “Love, Siargao,” which is set on the island of Siargao.
According to Athena Imperial’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, Alden will give life to Jao Calderon, a man who finds himself in Siargao while searching for answers to questions that left emotional scars in his past. Meanwhile, Nadine will portray Kara, also known as Caitlyn de Leon, a woman who is drawn to Siargao and eventually decides to make the island her home.
“Nagkatrabaho kami with different campaigns lang. Maliliit na projects lang eh. Looking back din sa mga nakatrabaho ko in the past parang I really wanted to work with Nadine kasi of course I usually see her works in terms of movies and series tapos on how she is as a person,” Alden said.
“Maganda ‘yung kuwento and it talks about, you know, the beauty of Siargao, the beauty of its people as well. Maganda po kasi 'yung intention ng project kaya I think talagang good vibes lang,” Nadine said.
Nadine also recalled how her fondness for Siargao began after travel restrictions eased.
“Kaka-open lang ng ano from COVID so people who are vaccinated could travel na. So Siargao was the first destination that we wanted to go to ’cause we have friends that have been living there for a while. Alam mo ‘yung weird doon, sa kotse pag-land na pag-land naming nasa sasakyan kami, tumitingin lang ako sa labas, sa bintana sabi ko talaga sa friends ko, ‘You know what, I honestly feel like I could live here,’” she said.
Alden, meanwhile, said that even a short stay on the island left a strong impression on him.
“But I was able to really get a grasp of why the Siargao curse is a well-known saying doon sa area ‘cause there’s something about the people, there’s something about the place itself. There’s something about this feeling that you have once you step into the island na parang niyayakap ka nang buo,” he said.
“And I think that’s one thing also and one of the reasons why yung mga ilan sa mga kakilala natin sa industriya chose to settle there. Kasi kumbaga meron siyang konsepto ng home away from home,” Alden added.
“Love, Siargao” is produced through a partnership between Viu Philippines, Viva Communications Inc., and GMA Network Inc., which held a ceremonial signing attended by executives and production heads, including Vicente Alejandro Sy-Quia, Country Manager of Viu Philippines; Vincent Del Rosario, President and COO of Viva Communications Inc.; and Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, Senior Vice President of GMA Network Inc.
“Love, Siargao” is set to premiere on Viu later in 2026.
Aside from “Love, Siargao,” Alden is also starring in the upcoming medical drama series “Code Gray” and in the upcoming international film “Big Tiger.”
