Sara Jane Paez Santiago, Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1989, passes away
Sara Jane Paez Santiago, the Binibining Universe 1989 titleholder, has passed away. She was 58.
On social media, the Binibining Pilipinas (BBP) organization paid tribute to Sara, sharing throwback photos from her reign in 1989.
“We remember and honor the life and legacy of Sara Jane Paez Santiago, Binibining Universe 1989,” BBP wrote.
“Thank you for the light you shared and the pride you brought to Binibini. You will always be remembered. Rest in peace,” they added.
Sara’s cause of death has yet to be revealed as of writing.
On social media, Miss Universe Philippines also made sure to pay tribute to Sara Jane "who proudly represented the Philippines at the Miss Universe pageant in Cancun, Mexico."
"She carried our country with grace and pride on the international stage, leaving a lasting mark in our pageant history. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and loved ones," Miss Universe Philippines said.
Sara's friends, including actress Marina Benipayo and social media personality Gitre San Diego, have also taken to social media to mourn the Filipino beauty queen.
"Our dear friend, Sara Jane Paez Santiago, has gone home to our creator. Pls include her in your prayers," Marina said in a Facebook post, that showed the wake details of Sara Jane.
"Would always see Sara Jane Paez Santiago during the Binibining Pilipinas reunions, she was always the nicest and sweetest," Gitre said on Facebook, sharing the same image that showed the wake details of Sara Jane.
Personnel from the Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Forbes Park, Makati City confirmed with GMA News Online that Sarah Jane's wake will be held there.

January 15: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
January 16: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
January 17: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
January 18: Memorial mass at 1:30 p.m.
Sara Jane was born on February 12, 1968. She passed away on January 13, 2026.
