Rabiya Mateo reveals depression, anxious distress diagnosis: 'Everyday was a struggle to survive'
Rabiya Mateo has revealed that she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and anxious distress last year.
In a Facebook post, the beauty queen and actress shared her medical certificate as well, detailing what she has been going through.
“I had my several rounds of medication. I left the country for three months so I won’t get triggered by people who have no idea what I’ve been going through,” Rabiya said.
“Everyday was a struggle to survive,” she added.
She also said that she almost “deactivated everything and disappear to have a quiet and peaceful life.”
“I fought hard and still fighting up until now.”
Rabiya said after the passing of Emman Atienza, and seeing how painful it was for her Kuya Kim and his family, she made a promise to herself to never give up.
“I don't want my Mama to experience the same thing,” she said.
To end her post, Rabiya shared a reminder to be kind.
“You don’t know how little kindness mean to a depressed person like me and how your words can push me to do something else,” she said.
Rabiya previously appeared in “Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila” and “Makiling.”
The actress and beauty queen was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2020.
