Eddie Gutierrez debunks fake news about his death: 'I'm still alive and kicking'
Eddie Gutierrez has addressed the fake news of his passing.
On Facebook, Eddie’s daughter, Ruffa, uploaded a video showing her dad personally debunking the rumor.
“Alam niyo, usong-uso ang fake news ngayon, na ako’y sumakabilang buhay na. Hindi po totoo ‘yon. Buhay na buhay po ako. I’m still alive and kicking. Hindi pa ako namamatay. Binigyan pa ako ng Panginoon ng mga ilang taon,” Eddie said.
[You know, fake news about my death is circulating. This is not true. I am still alive and kicking. I haven't died. The Lord has given me a few more years.]
The screen legend added he is set to turn 84 on February 6, thanking God for giving him more years and expressing gratitude to his family for keeping him healthy and happy.
“So ‘wag po kayong maniniwala. Buhay na buhay po ako. Sa lahat ng mga nagdasal, sa lahat ng mga tagahanga ko na mga senior citizen na hanggang ngayon nandiyan pa, ‘wag ho kayong mag-worry. Buhay na buhay po ako. At maraming salamat sa mga dasal ninyo,” he said.
[So don't believe it. I am very much alive. To all those praying with me, my senior citizen fans, don't worry. I am very much alive. And thank you for your prayers.]In the caption, Ruffa described the video as a pre-birthday message from her father.
“As he turns 84 this February 6, we celebrate a life filled with love, strength, and grace. Cheers to good health, happiness, and many more beautiful moments ahead. We love you always,” she said.
Eddie is recovering from health issues that's seen him fly to Singapore for a number of procedures.
In December, Eddie underwent a spinal procedure. While he immediately shown improvement, Ruffa disclosed learning of "a serious infection" through an MRI.
Last month, Eddie flew back to Singapore with Annabelle and Ruffa for a second medical procedure.
