“Republika ng Pipolipinas” received a Special Jury Mention at the 17th Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES). The Filipino film was recognized in the Asian cinema competition section.
Directed by Renei Dimla, a senior writer at GMA Network, “Republika ng Pipolipinas” is a mockumentary that follows disillusioned farmer Cora Vitug, who protests against the government’s plan to take her land and home by renouncing her Filipino citizenship and establishing her own micronation called Republika ng Pipolipinas.
"So honored that Republika ng Pipolipinas was recognized with a Special Jury Citation in the Asian Film Competition of the 17th Bengaluru International Film Festival," Renei said on social media.
"As always, my endless gratitude to our awesome cast and crew headed by Pres. Ge Villamil and all the people, Pipolipinos and Filipinos alike, who helped us bring our film to life. Namaste," Renei added.
An official entry to Cinemalaya 2025, "Reubplika ng Pipolipinas" was also the official Philippine entry to the 24th Dhaka International Film Festival under the Asian Competition section.
At BIFFES, “Lost Land” won Best Asian Film, while “Sabar Bonda” and “Vanya” took Best Indian Film and Best Kannada Film honors, respectively.
