OPM Band One Click Straight aims to stay authentic, stick together to 'make good stuff' this 2026
Staying authentic and rooted in music is what keeps OPM band One Click Straight going in the Philippine music scene.
In an interview with GMA News Online in Pasay City, band members Tim and Sam recalled their recent experiences penetrating into the music scene as a self-producing indie-pop and rock band.
Sam acknowledged the difficulties of being a musician, citing heavy emotional tolls and burdens that came with the job.
“We have accepted na ganoon talaga 'yung nature of music because you're always expressing, and you're doing this, and you're working on things… If I'm gonna sum it up, 'yung music life, it’s mind-cracking simplicity,” Sam said.
Tim added, “Being a musician is not for the faint of heart, but it is worth it.”
Having started out as a group of “soul brothers” who bonded together through music, Tim and Sam said that they intend to stay that way.
“Our goal is us to stick together… As four, just to make good stuff. Together,” Tim said.
The two band members also acknowledged their learnings as performers following their recent experiences representing Filipino music on the global stage after several international schedules and festivals over the past year.
Tim shared that being on stage was a “rejuvenating” feeling when transcending language barriers and connecting to the world through music.
“It's such a nice feeling na for our music. Actually, we just believe that Filipino music deserves to be heard and it deserves to be out there… We'll be ourselves and thenwhen people actually resonate with that even with the language barrier, even if they don't understand what we're actually singing about, we just realize that there's value in music. There's actually something tangible here in music,” Tim shared.
“It's always a nice thing to represent the Philippines anywhere in any time… Our music is just the Filipino experience in auditory form,” he added.
Now, One Click Straight said that they will continue to create and produce music inspired by “anywhere and everywhere.”
This 2026, One Click Straight is expecting bigger things—such as new music, a new album, and more international dates that can lead to continued growth as a band of brothers.
“One thing that really inspires the band to make music is music itself, I think… Para the idea lang na you can express something through notes and chords,” Tim said.
Sam added, “What helps us is sobrang love namin music… Music is life nga.”
Formed in 2009, One Click Straight is made up of brothers Sam, Toffer and Tim Marquez, along with their “spiritual brother” Joel Cartera.
