Did you know? David Licauco is grandson of renowned parapsychologist Jaime Licauco
Did you know that David Licauco is grandson of renowned Filipino parapsychologist Jaime Licauco?
During his guesting in "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, the Sparkle star recalled his fondest memories with his late grandfather.
"Pag-bend ng fork. Titingnan lang niya 'yung [fork] magbebend na. 'Yung toothpick napapagalaw niya. Siyempre pag bata ka Tito Boy, 'yun lang naman mapapansin mo, maalala mo," he said.
When he became older, David said that he applied some of his Lolo's teachings in his business.
"Pero noong tumanda na ako, I really tried my best na to pick up something from him specifically meditation, being present, manifestation, intuition which I think na-apply ko sa pagnenegosyo."
Since his grandfather is known as a paranormal expert, David admitted that he initially believed his sleep apnea—the condition he revealed in 2023—might have been something paranormal too.
"Akala ko before yung sleep apnea ko paranormal kasi binabangungot ka eh. Naalala ko nakatingin ako sa wall tapos sinusuntok ko 'yung wall eh, tigilan mo na ako. Ganyan. But actually wala naman kasing hangin sa wall, eh 'di ba pag sleep apnea kailangan mo ng hangin. So 'yun," he said.
In the same "Fast Talk," David also shared that when his grandfather was still alive, he would text him every day and tell him stories about his life.
"Lagi niyang kinukwento sa akin 'yung experience niya about 'yung being at a right time with a specific person. Something like that. So naniniwala siya doon 'yung parang serendipity. So naniniwala siya sa soulmate."
Aside from being a paranormal expert, Jaime is also a newspaper columnist, author, lecturer, hypnotherapist, and consultant.
He authored the books "Soul Mates: Karma & Reincarnation," "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Ghosts," and "Exploring the Powers of Your Inner Mind," among others.
Jaime passed away in May 2025.
Meanwhile, David currently stars in GMA Prime series "Never Say Die" along with Jillian Ward, Kim Ji Soo, and Raheel Bhyria. The show weeknights at 8:55 p.m. after "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre." —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News
