Maxene Magalona took to social media to share that she and her partner, Geoff Gonzalez, are currently stranded in Dubai amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

On Instagram, Max revealed that they have been in Dubai for almost a week and that they are “feeling so safe and peaceful despite the ongoing war.”

“As of today, Dubai is navigating a period of high alert and significant disruption following a series of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran across the region,” she wrote.

“The government of the UAE truly has the best defense system as it was able to intercept more than a hundred missile and drone attacks,” she added.

She also looked back on the time she got stranded in Bali in 2020 at the onset of the pandemic, and felt "so scared and stressed because I was literally alone."

“Now, I feel so blessed to be here with [Geoff], who takes such good care of me and protects my peace at all costs,” she added.

Max also thanked their family and friends who checked in via messages.

“We see and appreciate you,” she wrote. “These difficult times show you the ones who truly care about you, and for each and every one of you, we are so grateful.”

Tensions in the region escalated over the weekend following airstrikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said Monday that between 80 and 100 Filipinos in Dubai have expressed their intention to return to the Philippines amid the escalating tensions.

Earlier, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported that about 2.5 million Filipinos are in the Middle East, mostly in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, with around 800 in Iran.
