Carlo Aquino admits he hesitated to accept ‘A Special Memory’
Carlo Aquino admitted he thought twice about accepting his role in “A Special Memory.”
On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Monday, the award-winning actor shared his initial hesitations about the film.
“Ang hirap ng pagdadaanan ng mga characters,” Carlo said.
According to Carlo, Bela Padilla’s character, Sandra, has early-onset Alzheimer’s, which has caused her to lose her memories of being with Carlo’s character, Dindo.
“So sabi ko, ang bigat nanaman nito coming from [‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay'] na 'di ba parang naubos ako. Kasi after ng ‘It’s Okay,’ sobrang pumayat ako, ‘yung ganun.”
Carlo said he relates to the film because of his aunt, who also has Alzheimer’s. It is a personal story for him “na ayokong dalhin doon dahil masyadong mabigat.”
He recalled that during the shoot of “Kokey," in which he starred, his aunt would come visit him in Baguio and take care of him.
“May mga scenes na tinuturuan niya ‘ko, kasi mahilig silang umarte, mahilig silang kumanta,” he said. “So dun ko nakuha ‘yung talent ko sa sinasamahan niya ‘ko," he shared.
“A Special Memory” is adapted by National Artist Ricky Lee based on the hit Japanese series “Pure Soul."
The film is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on March 11.
