'Born to Shine’ starring Zephanie, Michael Sager drops teaser featuring original songs for series

The teaser of the upcoming Kapuso drama musical series “Born to Shine” starring Michael Sager and Zephanie is now here!

According to Aubrey Carampel’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the teaser featured original songs which will be performed by the cast members. 

Zephanie said many people especially dreamers, will be able to relate to the story and the songs. In fact, the Sparkle singer-actress shared that she personally resonates with her character, Jenny.

“I can relate as Zephanie doon sa mga songs po na hindi ko pa ma-share. But mayroong isang song dito sa show na parang kanta ko pala in real life," she said.

In the same interview, Zephanie and Michael, who used to be a love team, talked about their reunion in the series. 

“Natutuwa ako kay Zeph na kahit hindi kami nag-work for a couple of years, nakita namin ‘yung progress sa isa’t-isa and noong nagbalik-tambalan kami sa isang eksena, nakakatuwa lang na we’re back and doing a scene together,” Michael said.

“I think na-shape din po kami in our own ways and now na nag-grow kami, so nice na finally magka-work ulit kami parang discovering po ulit paano ang dynamics namin for the show,” Zephanie added. 

In the series, Michael plays the role of Nate, a singer. To prepare for his role, the Kapuso actor took voice lessons.

“I really had to embody ang isang singer. Mahirap pala talaga. Mahirap din mag-perform pero kinakaya para mabigyan ko ng justice 'yung character ko,” Michael shared.

Other cast members include Olive May, Manilyn Reynes, Vina Morales, Smokey Manaloto, Tina Paner, and Roselle Nava. It will be directed by Rod Marmol.

Michael and Zephanie previously worked together in the Kapuso series “Luv is: Caught in His Arms.” 

He was among the 20 housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 1.0.”

He previously starred in the vertical series “A Masked Billionaire Stole My Heart” with Ysabel Ortega, and in his self-produced film “Opposites Almost Attract” with AZ Martinez.

Meanwhile, Zephanie previously appeared in “Mga Batang Riles" and “MAKA,”

“Born to Shine” will premiere starting March 23 on GMA Afternoon Prime.
