Zephanie, Michael Sager excited to reunite onscreen for 'Born to Shine'
A comeback series it is for the Zephanie and Michael Sager tandem!
Zephanie and Michael are excited to reunite onscreen for the upcoming Kapuso series,“Born to Shine.”
During Monday’s media conference, Zephanie said the project feels special as it brings them back together after spending time pursuing individual projects.
“I know both of us went on our own paths, and I’m sure nag-grow kami individually, and now I’m so excited to see kung ano ‘yung naging growth namin,” she said.
“Nakakamiss kasi ‘di ba? Kapag ‘yung mga kaibigan mo, makaka-work mo ulit, so I’m really happy,” she added.
Meanwhile, Michael said he appreciates the opportunity to work with Zephanie again.
“Natutuwa ako na this is a reunion project for us,” he said. “[Zephanie] was one of the first people I met in the Philippines, and unang na-notice ko sa kaniya is, hinahabol niya ang pangarap niya.”
“So this show — feeling ko it's meant for you, Zeph, kasi you are born to shine,” he added.
When asked which songs they would dedicate to each other, Michael chose “Araw-Araw” by Ben&Ben, “kasi araw araw andito ako.”
Meanwhile, Zephanie picked “Day 1” by Honne, explaining that the track holds a special meaning in their friendship.
“I think this was one of the songs that we actually shared with each other, kasi nga, both of us, noong nagsimula ako sa GMA kasabay ko rin si Michael, so we really had each other noon,” she said.
The two first worked together in “Sparkle U” in 2023.
Aside from Zephanie and Michael, “Born to Shine” also stars Olive May, Manilyn Reynes, Tina Paner, Smokey Manaloto, Roselle Nava, Vina Morales, and Tessie Tomas, among others.
The story follows Jennie (Zephanie) as she pursues her dream to become a P-pop idol despite the circumstances.
“Born to Shine” is set to premiere on GMA Afternoon Prime on March 23 at 2:30 p.m.
