Raheel Bhyria shares recovery journey from sports injuries: ‘I refuse to give up’
Raheel Bhyria took to social media to share his recovery journey from several sports injuries.
On Instagram, the “Never Say Die” actor revealed that he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), a torn meniscus, and a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL).
In the video, he said a doctor advised that it would take at least 12 months for his body to recover, but he refused “to wait that long.”
"I refuse to wait six months until I can hit the bag again. I refuse to wait six months until I can hit the mitts again. I refuse to wait eight months before I can spar again. I refuse to wait 10 months before I can run again,” he wrote.
Raheel shared videos of himself doing various physical activities, including boxing, running, and going to the gym, all in a span of three months since his accident.
"Most of all, I refuse to give up,” he wrote. “Stay hungry, stay foolish."
According to Mayo Clinic, an ACL injury is a “tear or sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament,” a tissue that connects the thigh bone to the shinbone.
Meanwhile, a torn MCL is a common knee injury among people who play football, basketball, or ski, while a torn meniscus is another common knee injury caused by sudden twisting movements, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Raheel currently stars in “Never Say Die,” alongside Jillian Ward, David Licauco, Kim Ji Soo, and Eman Bacosa Pacquiao.
It airs on GMA Prime from Mondays to Fridays at 8:50 p.m.
