Nico Bolzico lauds Alden Richards following triathlon relay, admits underestimating him

Nico Bolzico took to social media to express his admiration for Alden Richards after participating in a triathlon relay in Davao City.

On Instagram, Solenn Heussaff's husband admitted he initially underestimated the Kapuso actor’s capabilities for the race.

Describing Alden as "one of the busiest and most recognized actors out there," Nico admitted he "wasn't sure he had what it takes" to fully prepare and perform in a triathlon.

But his view changed after seeing Alden's dedication to training and preparation.

"In those two months, Alden showed up in a way very few people do," he said. "Straight from taping to training. From the airport to the track."

"I still wasn’t sure he got it in him," Nico continued. "Maybe I thought he was too busy, too polished, or maybe just too good-looking to become a beast."

It was on race day when Nico's perspective on Alden changed completely.

Watching Alden finish the bike leg, he recalled, "I didn’t see the same person anymore. I saw someone who had emptied the tank completely. Someone who had given everything."

"In that moment, he wasn’t just Alden Richards to me. He was Alden f****** Richards," he wrote.

According to Nico, Alden’s performance even pushed him to perform better.

"Alden, I owe you an apology. I underestimated you. And I’m proud—truly proud—to call you my teammate," he said.

Together with Wil Dasovich, Alden and Nico finished ninth in the triathlon team relay that saw more than 70 competing participants.

In January, Asia’s Multimedia Star shared his training and other preparations for the said triathlon, including losing weight.

Meanwhile, Alden has also begun taping for “Love, Siargao,” his movie with Nadine Lustre, to be released this April.
