Anton Vinzon embraces first solo lead role in upcoming series 'Kamao'
Anton Vinzon is nothing short of grateful as he takes on his first-ever solo lead role in the upcoming Kapuso boxing drama series, "Kamao."
According to Nelson Canlas report on "24 Oras" Friday, the Sparkle actor is starring in the series with his own father, veteran action star Roi Vinzon.
In "Kamao," the elder Vinzon will play Anton's grandfather.
"Sabi ko kay papa, 'pa, tatawagin na kitang lolo ah.' Sabi niya, 'siraulo ka,'" Anton said in jest.
"Pursigidong-pursigido talaga ako, determinado talaga ako to work and nakapag-training na rin ako with my dad, especially boxing. Ni-research ko talaga buo 'yung about boxing," he added.
Anton's role in "Kamao" is different from his character in "Mga Batang Riles," where his scenes were mostly funny.
"Yes, may funny ako dito pero more on serious, more on family talaga. Kung paano magsalita talaga si Macmac dito, more matured na kasi may pangarap siya na hindi niya kayang iwan. Kaya 'yun po talaga, na mas lalo siyang mas focused, determinado siya sa pangarap niya."
Aside from Anton and Roi, "Kamao" will also star Katrina Halili, Bruce Roeland, Amy Austria, Neil Ryan Sese, Wendell Ramos, Tito Marsy, and Tito Abdul.
Per Katrina, she sees herself in her own character in the series, especially when it comes to being a mother.
"Syempre bilang nanay gagawin mo ang lahat para sa anak mo, sa pamilya mo. Mahal ko po 'yung pamilya ko. 'Yun 'yung pinaka-nagustuhan ko, mas tutok sa family drama. 'Yun 'yung masarap gawin, 'yung totoong drama," she shared. —CDC, GMA Integrated News
