JOLIN on collaborating with SB19 for 'Emoji': 'Felt like a blind date'

JOLIN is thrilled to have collaborated with SB19 on the song "Emoji."

In an Instagram post, the Queen of C-Pop shared her experience working with P-Pop Kings.

"This online creative collaboration with SB19 felt like a blind date. My first thought was, 'What should we talk about?'" she wrote in Mandarin, as translated into English.

She also spoke more about the themes of "Emoji," which was all about wanting to express emotions but using symbols.

"I've also found myself often hiding unspoken, even subconscious, emotions in a seemingly harmless emoji," Jolin said. "So, during our first online meeting, I typed 'emoji Social Fake,' and they almost simultaneously nodded."

"It turns out we're all the same. Sometimes, hiding behind symbols, we feel a little tired and embarrassed by that compressed version of ourselves," she added.

Jolin also expressed gratitude to SB19 for their energy and enthusiasm when they met in person.

"Special thanks to Ken for always generously throwing out heart emojis during the arrangement and production process, giving me the warmest support and responses for revisions," she said.

SB19 released their new album, "Wakas at Simula," on March 27.  It combines the tracks from the group's EP trilogy, "Pagsibol," "Pagtatag," and "Simula at Wakas."

It also includes six new songs, including "Emoji," and "Toyfriend," a collaboration with J-Pop group Be:First.

SB19 appeared at the Dance Universe Never Killed or the DUNK Showcase in Japan earlier this March, along with Cup of Joe and BGYO.

The group is set to hold their "Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy Finale" on April 18 at the SMDC Festival Grounds.

They are also set to perform at Lollapalooza 2026, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois, from July 30 to August 2, and the Summer Sonic in Japan on August 15.
