Eric Quizon planning to make Dolphy biopic

Eric Quizon is planning to make a biopic of his late father, the King of Comedy Dolphy.

On Friday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the award-winning actor revealed that he has been planning the film with veteran actress Bibeth Orteza.

Bibeth was the one who put together Dolphy's biography, "Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa" (2008).

"I want to. I've been planning with Bibeth Orteza, so I asked Bibeth to — she wrote the book. Sinabi ko sa kaniya, parang gusto kong encapsulated from the time he was brought to the hospital and until the time that he died," shared Eric.

According to Eric, he wanted the biopic to show the last five weeks of Dolphy's life because a lot of people do not know the ordeal his family went through at the time.

"Parang marami hindi nakakaalam 'yung ordeal ng family at that time and I think it's a beautiful story because from the time that I asked for prayers, parang nakinig ang buong Pilipinas," he said, adding that the whole country prayed with them and gave them hope.

"Parang it was a miracle that whenever I would say that, I would pray, gumagaling siya, dumidilat ang mata, lumalakas siya. So sa family namin, parang it was a great time na we were spending those precious last few days of my dad with us."

Eric also recalled their final moments with Dolphy in the ICU, noting that he and his many siblings gathered there to be by his side.

"Nasa ICU kami, ilan kami? Andami naming magkakapatid, sa ICU isa lang ang allowed. Andoon kami lahat, walang magawa ang Makati Med, nagkakantahan kami. May gitara 'yung mga kapatid ko, walang magawa 'yung mga doktor," he said.

Dolphy passed away in 2012 at the age of 83. He is buried at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Eric is an actor, director, producer, and writer. He has starred in various films, including "Soft Hearts," "Mano Po," and "Crying Ladies." He won Best Supporting Actor at the 1990 Gawad Urian Awards for his performance in Ishmael Bernal's "Pahiram ng Isang Umaga."
