Alden Richards, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, more Kapuso stars share how they're saving money amid fuel price hike
Several Kapuso stars have shared the ways they are saving money amid the fuel price hike.
In Aubrey Carampel’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, Alden Richards encouraged biking and walking to one's destination.
“Aside from the fact na nakakatipid ka na, nakakatulong ka sa environment, you're also showcasing a healthy lifestyle and you're doing something for yourself as well. So, I encourage everyone to bike," he shared.
He also reminded motorists to be fair to cyclists on the road.
“But prior to that, sana po, of course, the manners natin sa daan, especially to our motorists, is to treat 'yung mga siklista natin fairly,” Alden said.
Meanwhile, in a separate report by Carampel on "24 Oras," Friday, Jasmine Curtis-Smith shared that she has limited going out of the house to cut costs and has also opted to carpool.
“‘Yung mga gala na hindi ka kikita ng pera muna. 'Wag muna tayo doon. Focus muna ako sa work. At saka ano na rin, kapag may chance na makipag-carpool sa ibang tao,” she said.
Her “Endo” co-star Royce Cabrera, on the other hand, said he has been using his motorcycle to go to work.
Paolo Contis, for his part, shared that he currently stays with his family to save money.
“I stayed home with my mom and my brother. 'Yun naman dapat eh, para tipid din. Hopefully this coming month or the next month, I'm spending time in Cebu again,” Paolo said.
Like Royce, Matt Lozano has also resorted to using his motorcycle to travel.
Meanwhile, Matthew Uy shared that he uses a motorcycle taxi to commute from his home in Antipolo.
“Nag-mo-motorcycle taxi muna ako para makatipid sa gasolina, lalo na ang layo pa nung bahay ko, galing pa akong Antipolo,” he said.
Allen Ansay, on the other hand, prefers to walk and sometimes travels together with "Huwag Kang Titingin" co-star Sofia Pablo to save money.
“'Pag GMA, talagang lakad na lang since malapit naman 'yung bahay ko. Ngayon, may mga trabaho kami ni Sophie [Pablo] so sabay na talaga kami sa work pumunta para mas makatipid pa,” he said.
On Thursday, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced a P10-per-liter fuel subsidy for PUVs to ease the burden of drivers and operators amid the fuel price hike.
Meanwhile, an oil industry source stated that an oil price rollback of up to P6 per liter is expected next week following a series of mega fuel price hikes since the Middle East conflict broke out in February.
The estimated reductions in pump prices are P5.50 to P6.50 per liter for diesel and unchanged to P1.00 per liter for gasoline.
The anticipated reductions in pump prices came amid the two-week ceasefire agreed upon by the United States and Iran.
