Jodi Sta. Maria on working with Sanya Lopez: ‘I super love her’
Jodi Sta. Maria has nothing but kind words for her “Midnight Girls” co-star Sanya Lopez.
On “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Monday, Jodi said of the Kapuso star, “I super love her.”
“I really vocalize my appreciation sa babaeng ‘to,” she added. “Sabi ko nga, ‘Alam mo, hindi ka lang magaling, napakamabuti mo pang tao.’ Nakakatuwa.”
In the same interview, Jodi shared that she and her “Midnight Girls” co-stars—Sanya, Loisa Andalio, and Jane Oineza—worked in a bar in Nagoya, Japan as part of their immersion for the film.
According to Jodi, she waited tables, entertained, and received tips.
“It is important for us, doon sa character namin, na truly maintindihan ‘yung lalim ng pinaghuhugutan, ‘yung pinanggagalingan ng mga babae, ‘yung mga storya na ilalahad namin,” she said.
They were introduced as new employees, not as actresses, during the immersion.
“You just have to do whatever to make them happy. You sing, you dance, you make kwento. Basta kailangan maaliw sila sa ‘yo,” Jodi said.
“Para sa kanila, customer is king. Kung ano ‘yung gusto nila, ‘yun ang masusunod.”
Jodi also shared she received coffee, expensive whiskey, and money as tips, adding that she did not have any offensive experiences.
“They are very careful with that kasi kapagka na-offend ang babae, we can easily report them to the police. And I guess siguro, medyo maingat sila sa ganun,” she said. “And we’re also thankful sa aming mga mama na nandodoon because they really took good care of us. Hindi na kailangan umabot na may ma-harass sa isa sa amin.”
Additionally, Jodi was taught how to dance by dancer and former Sexbomb Girls manager, Joy Cancio.
“Midnight Girls” premieres on May 13.
