Bruce Roeland and Neil Ryan Sese are stepping into physically and emotionally demanding roles in the upcoming boxing drama series “Kamao.”

According to Nelson Canlas’ report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, Bruce is set to portray Lance, a complex character described as both misunderstood and a bully.

“Ang character ko po dito, si Lance, very misunderstood person pero at the same time bully siya. Ang reason nun is how his dad treats him,” he said.

To prepare for the role, Bruce has been undergoing rigorous boxing training, including bag work and shadow boxing.

“Palagi akong nag-ba-bag work, shadow boxing, 'yung mga ganun. Mahilig din akong mag-research ng mga boxer. I like to go on a psychological part, but at the same time not to overthink too much and let the character just flow,” Bruce added.

Meanwhile, Neil will take on a layered role as a boxer hiding a personal secret—marking his first time portraying a gay character in a television series.

“Isa siyang boxer na may tinatagong lihim, 'di ba? Ano pala siya, gay, so very challenging,” he said.

Neil also shared that his preparation for the role goes beyond physical training.

“Inaral ko 'yung mga kaibigan ko na gay kung papaano sila kumilos at the same time syempre nag-training ako ng boxing,” he said.

Kamao” will be top-billed by Anton Vinzon, where he will play the role of a young boxer.

Aside from Anton, Neil, and Bruce, the series will also star Anton’s father, Roi Vinzon, Katrina Halili, Amy Austria, Wendell Ramos, Tito Marsy, and Tito Abdul, among others.
