Maria Isabel Lopez recovering following car crash

Maria Isabel Lopez is now recovering in the hospital after a car crash.

In an Instagram Stories post by her daughter Mara Lopez, the beauty queen turned actress was seen lyingin a hospital bed.

“She’s alive and that’s all that matters,” Mara said. Tagging her mom's Instagram handle @beautyqueenmil, Mara added, “Mahal kita, pagaling ka.”

In the comments section of the IG Stories post, Maria Isabel explained she got into a car crash.

“Survived a car crash. Thank you Lord,” Maria Isabel said.

Fans and loved ones also commented their well wishes for Maria Isabel.

Maria Isabel was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1982 and represented the Philippines in the 31st Miss Universe Pageant in Lima, Peru.

She is also an actress and has starred in various films, including Celso Ad Castillo's "Isla,” "Daughters of Eve,” "Kinatay," "Ways of the Sea," "Lorna," "Ma' Rosa," and many more.

She won Best Supporting Actress at the Gawad Tanglaw and Golden Screen Awards for her performance in "Kinatay."

Most recently, she starred in the Filipino film "Diamonds in the Sand," which won Best Debut at Italy's Far East Film Festival 2025.
