Bianca Umali, Kelvin Miranda, Faith Da Silva, Angel Guardian open up on facing criticism from 'Encantadia' fans

Bianca Umali, Kelvin Miranda, Angel Guardian, and Faith Da Silva spoke candidly about how they handled criticism from longtime “Encantadia” fans, often referred to as “Enkantadiks,” acknowledging both the pressure and the growth that came with taking on beloved roles.

During their guesting in “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Friday, the “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre” stars reflected on the challenges of meeting expectations from a loyal and super engaged fanbase that Tito Boy described as having a sense of ownership.

Faith emphasized humility as key to navigating criticism, admitting she often reflects on her own performance.

“I think with a lot of humility, kasi siyempre I mean proud ako sa mga nagagawa pero there are moments na parang I could’ve done so much better. Marami akong ganon eh, dapat ganito yung ginawa ko, dapat ganiyan,” she said.

“Kasi it goes to shows na tao lang tayo, we’re still learning, we’re still evolving,” Faith added.

For Angel, the deep connection of Enkantadiks to the story adds another layer of responsibility, saying fans’ familiarity with the narrative pushes them to stay true to their characters.

“Malaking part po talaga Tito Boy ‘yung mga Enkantadiks na sumusubaybay since 2005. Kabisado nila ‘yung story eh,” Angel said.

“Siyempre for us, work din ‘yun for us na alamin kung tama ba tong ginagawa ng character natin.”

Meanwhile, Bianca acknowledged that criticism is inevitable in any project.

“We cannot please everybody. There will always be bashing alongside all the things that you will do.”

Rather than letting negativity affect them, she said the cast leaned on each other for strength.

“Kaming apat, everytime na may pagdadaanan, may hirap na pinagdadaanan ang characters namin. Ako personally alam ko kahit na mahirap minsan, kapag nakikita ko silang lumalaban, alam kong kailangan kong lumaban,” Bianca shared.

Kelvin, meanwhile, sees these criticisms as an opportunity for growth.

“Doon sa mga nagkokomento, mayroon kasing mga komento na literal na bash or trash doon sa kritiko. Sa akin kasi malaking bagay na mayroon kang nababasa na ganito kasi magkakaroon ka ng pagkakataon na mag-explore sa ibang perspective,” he said.
