Anthony Constantino shines as Player of the Game in celebrity basketball match
Anthony Constantino wowed with his hardcourt skills at the Bida sa Arena: Ultimate Celebrity Showdown basketball match on Sunday.
According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Monday, Anthony was named the Player of the Game as Team Sparkle led by David Licauco battled Team Th3rd floor led by Gerald Anderson.
The Kapuso heartthrob sank a Hail Mary shot to help his team trim the lead built by the Kapamilya players.
"When I'm playing basketball I'm having a lot of fun. I honestly did it for all of the fans and I'm glad they're able to support me and Sparkle," he said after the game.
Asked how he was able to get the ball to drop with that Hail Mary, Anthony credited the presence of Shuvee Etrata, whom he has been courting for a while now.
"Tingin ko it was my lucky charm. Come on now, that shot? That's gotta be Shuvee, 'no?" he said with a wink.
"Nakaka-proud at masaya ako na nakikita ng tao 'yung talento niya," Shuvee said about Anthony's performance.
Team Th3rd floor led 59-38 at the half, but Team Sparkle did their best to catch up until David, the team captain, suffered a sprain and was taken out of the game.
At the buzzer, Team Th3rd floor won the game, 96-89.
"As a team collectively lumaban kami, nakabalik kami 'di ba? So I think moving forward mas gaganda na 'yung mga games namin kasi first time naming gawin ito," David said.
Aside from Anthony, other Kapuso standouts were Prince Carlos and Andre Paras, who were named in the mythical five.
The rest of Team Sparkle is composed of Rayver Cruz, Will Ashley, Dustin Yu, Mavy Legaspi, Paul Salas
Anthony Constantino, EA Guzman, Josh Ford, Kimson Tan, Mateo Monzones, and Ralph Miaco.
AZ Martinez served as the team's muse.
Among the celebrities who watched the game to support their fellow stars were Mikee Quintos, Ysabel Ortega, Miguel Tanfelix, Rodjun Cruz, Mika Salamanca, Vince Maristela, Cheska Fausto, Charlie Fleming, Jay Ortega, Raheel Bhyria, Kim Ji Soo, Ashley Ortega, Cassy Legaspi, Shaira Diaz, Kira Balinger, and Bianca De Vera.
Julie Anne San Jose and Klarisse de Guzman delivered performances for the fans, while Aicelle Santos sang the national anthem.
Martin Javier served as one of the event's hosts.
