Marina Summers addresses bashing after Angel Galang's comment on her Miss Universe PH hosting

Marina Summers has addressed the hate being thrown at her and fellow transwoman and drag queen Angel Galang following her hosting stint at Miss Universe Philippines 2026.

In a statement on Wednesday, the drag artist said hosting the pageant is a milestone for her career. She also said she understands that it would attract different opinions and encounter some resistance.

Angel was one of those who criticized Marina's performance, but she in return received some bashing for it.

"While I was admittedly hurt by her statements, I do not condone any hurtful and hateful words thrown at her because of it. Huwag itong gamiting excuse para manira ng kapwa. It just sets us back and everything we've worked so hard for just loses its meaning," Marina said.

She said everyone is entitled to their opinion, but not to disrespect.

"I did not expect the vile and alarming amount of transphobia, hate and even death threats thrown at me. Moreso, the hate and harassment being thrown to my sister, Angel," she said.

"This is not what I stand for. This needs to stop," she added.

Marina said she and Angel have already patched thing up.

"Angel and I were able to resolve things privately. Let’s give her space and understanding," she said.

The drag queen also thanked everyone for their love and support.

"I ask that you only spread love, grace and kindness to the people around you," she said.

Angel previously apologized to Marina through a Facebook post.

"Unang-una sa lahat sorry mga alaga, award sena! Hard loka! Pero sorry I'm really really sorry hard especially to my sister, Marina," she said. "Na-over express ako at I know na mali talaga ako."

"I want to take accountability and responsibility dito mga 'nak. Pero thank you talaga sa mga taong nag call out sakin para maging better person. Thank you din sa mga queens na nagsabi sakin na mali ang nagawa ko."

Marina Summers competed in the first season of "Drag Race Philippines," where she was the runner-up. She then placed fourth in the international series, "RuPaul's Drag Race: UK Vs. The World."
